TRUE STORY

Anees Amma

Faith, Courage and a Second Chance at Life

Anees Amma — that’s what everyone lovingly called her. She was born into a Christian family and grew up surrounded by relatives, neighbors and a close-knit community. But her life took a courageous and life-changing turn when she decided to embrace Islam.

The moment she accepted Islam, everything changed. Her family, relatives and even the entire community turned their backs on her. The people who once shared her life boycotted her simply because she chose a different faith.

Alone and heartbroken, Anees Amma left behind her home and everything she once knew. She moved to a small, underdeveloped area in Orangi Town, where nobody knew her name and nobody cared for her.

In those difficult days, someone gave her a few small children's items to sell — little things that could help her survive. She began selling them through the small window of her tiny house.

Day after day she sat behind that small window, hoping to earn enough to continue living with dignity despite the loneliness she faced.

A Critical Moment

One day, the neighbors noticed something unusual — Anees Amma’s window had not opened for several days and she had stopped selling anything.

When they went to check on her, they found her lying on the floor, weak, burning with fever and unable to move. The signs of illness and helplessness surrounded her.

The neighbors rushed her to the hospital where doctors revealed she had been suffering from Chikungunya for nearly a month. Her condition had deteriorated so badly that doctors believed she was in the final stage and could pass away at any moment.

Aaghosh Becomes Her Home

The neighbors could not afford the cost of her treatment. Someone then informed them about Aaghosh Old Home. They contacted the team and, by the grace of Allah, Anees Amma was admitted there.

Normally the shelter does not accept patients in such critical condition. But because Anees Amma had embraced Islam despite losing everything, the team felt it was their responsibility to stand beside her.

At Aaghosh she received special care, treatment and love. Slowly her health improved. She began walking again, talking again and living a peaceful life once more.

By the mercy of Allah, Anees Amma spent five peaceful years at Aaghosh Old Home surrounded by people who truly cared for her. In 2021, Anees Amma left this world forever. Her story is not just about pain but about courage, faith and hope a reminder that no one who trusts Allah is ever truly alone.
